호서대학교는 산업디자인학과 학생들이 세계적 디자인 공모전 ‘2026 레드닷 디자인 어워드(Red Dot Design Award)’에서 콘셉트디자인 대상인 ‘Best of the Best’와 입상작인 ‘Winner’에 3개 작품이 선정됐다고 5일 밝혔다. 대상작인 ‘Hug Tail’은 병원을 찾은 어린 환자의 불안감을 줄여주는 감성 로봇을 디자인해 심사위원들로부터 높은 평가를 받았다. ‘Pico-Pod’는 어린이 당뇨 환자를 위한 간편한 인슐린 주입기를 제안해 혁신성을 인정받으며 ‘Winner’에 선정됐다. ‘Sona’는 장애인과 비장애인이 함께 즐길 수 있는 놀이기구를, ‘Fingo’는 노인 인지 기능 향상을 돕는 학습 놀이도구를 제안했다. 호서대 학생들은 2024년 ‘Best of the Best’, 2025년 ‘Winner’에 2개 작품에 이어 올해까지 3년 연속 레드닷 디자인 어워드 수상이라는 성과를 이어갔다. 호서대 산업디자인학과는 아이디어 발상부터 프로토타이핑, 국제 공모전 출품까지 전 과정을 체계적으로 지원하며 실무형 디자이너를 양성하고 있다. 도한영 교수는 “이번 수상은 학생들이 사회 현상과 인간에 대한 깊이 있는 통찰을 바탕으로 문제 해결 중심의 디자인을 탐구해 온 노력의 결실”이라고 말했다.
